Independence’s Levi Dillon – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

When the game was on the line against Augusta, Levi Dillon delivered. His overtime game-winner provided one of the season’s most memorable moments for the Independence Bulldogs, but the forward-looking senior sees an even bigger takeaway from the year: a young team gaining the experience it needs to compete in the future.

“This season has been a learning experience for our young team,” Dillon said. “We didn’t get the results we wanted, but I feel that, as a team, we grew and gained experience for the future.”

One of the qualities that stood out to Dillon was the team’s ability to respond to adversity. After a couple of tough losses, the Bulldogs continued to compete and work toward improvement.

“I am proud of the team’s ability to bounce back after a couple of tough losses,” he said.

Dillon also used the offseason to focus on his own development, emphasizing leadership and poise. Those qualities can be especially important for a young team looking to establish consistency and prepare for future challenges.

As the Bulldogs approach the postseason, Dillon said the team plans to keep its focus on the task immediately ahead rather than looking too far down the road.

“Our postseason goals are to take each game one at a time and see what happens,” he said. Beyond this season, Dillon hopes the Bulldogs will continue building on the progress they have made.

“Moving forward, I hope that our team will continue to improve in the off-season and keep our sights set high for next year.”
