Hutchinson Central’s Belle Barnett – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

By Angela Brunk

Belle Barnett, a senior at Hutchinson Central Christian High School, is more than just an athlete; she’s a leader, a role model, and someone who brings heart to everything she does. Competing in high jump, long jump, 100m, and 200m, Barnett is looking to finish her final track season with both grace and grit.

This season, Barnett’s goals stretch beyond just stats and medals. While she hopes to return to the state meet, especially for the 100m dash and high jump, her focus is also on making meaningful connections and being a light to those around her. “I want to have more spiritual talks at meets and just be the best leader I can,” told Vype Magazine. “Each meet is a blessing, and I want to carry that joy with me.”

Barnett’s athletic résumé speaks for itself. Last season, she made it to state in both the 100m and high jump, where she set a personal record by clearing 5’6” and placed 5th in the 100m dash. Her work ethic is just as strong off the track, where she trains year-round through basketball, volleyball, weightlifting, and summer workouts.

Next year, Barnett will take her talents to Sterling College, where she’ll compete in both track and volleyball. She’s still deciding on her major, but athletic training is at the top of her list.

Off the field, Barnett is active in her faith community as a worship team member and life group leader, helping lead Bible studies and mentoring her peers. Her goal this season and beyond are to compete hard, love well, and represent Christ in all she does.
