Kris Harding II enters his senior season with the Chanute Blue Comets carrying high expectations, strong leadership, and a focus on making history. As the starting quarterback, Harding’s personal and team goals are aligned; he wants to help lead the team to a deep playoff run and, ultimately, on to the state championship.
Harding is taking senior responsibilities seriously. “One goal is to become more of a leader since we have lost a lot of seniors,” Harding shared with Vype Magazine. “Our team goals are to get better every single game and fix our mistakes as we go.”
The team has high expectations for this season. Chanute is aiming to win its fifth straight SEK title, and Harding is especially looking forward to the highly anticipated matchup against Pittsburg. “We want to get our revenge and get that win streak going,” he said.
In the offseason, Harding dedicated himself to refining his craft. He focused on footwork, improving timing with his receivers, and building muscle. He also attended camps at Missouri Western State and Emporia State to gain more experience and exposure.
Last season, Harding threw for an impressive 1,812 passing yards, an accomplishment he’s proud of and determined to build on this season.
In addition to football, Harding is a talented baseball player and is weighing both sports as potential paths for his college career. Although undecided on future plans at this point, whichever route he chooses, one thing’s certain. Kris Harding II is a name to watch this year in Kansas high school sports.
