Andale’s Konnor Bretthauer – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Schmidt & Sons

By Blake Chadwick

Junior bowler Konnor Bretthauer has quickly become one of the most talented and well-rounded athletes in Kansas, despite only beginning competitive bowling in January of his freshman year.

Konnor’s strengths as a bowler – elite hand-eye coordination, lane versatility, and patience – have helped him rise fast.

“Konnor is one of the most impressive young men I have ever had the pleasure of being around,” head coach Chris Joly said. “He’s a three-sport athlete, a top-tier student, and one of the hardest-working individuals I’ve coached. What people may not know is who he is behind the accomplishments. He is humble, grounded, and coachable, and at 16, he runs a family business. Our community prides itself on young men like Konnor.”

For Konnor, “Improvement remains the mission”, with mastering consistency, spare shooting, release balance, and lane play. Every day is another opportunity to sharpen something.

The junior’s goals this year are sky-high, of course. He wants to win the 4A-1A individual state title, post the highest series of any Kansas division, average 220, and roll his first 300 game. He also hopes to help Andale’s girls chase another state title and guide the boys’ team back to the state tournament.
