Finishing last season with nearly 2,000 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns, Beloit senior Joel Rexroat wants to take this offseason to grow his skills.
“I have been going to morning weights during the week. Going to football camps with my team. Also having offensive and defensive practices to prepare for our upcoming season. Also have been playing a variety of other sports to help keep me in shape,” Rexroat said.
Playing both sides of the ball is difficult, and doing both well requires even more work. That is why Rexroat spent a lot of his offseason at the free safety position.
“I really want to improve on my defensive side as a safety. I have tried to improve whenever we are doing defensive drills during the summer. I make sure I’m focused and doing everything I can to be better at that spot. Also we have been going to a 7 on 7 camp where I can improve on my defense there as well,” Rexroat said.
Rexroat describes himself as the type of leader who always puts the team before himself, and head coach Brad Gober agrees.“Joel is a great football player who gives everything he has for the team. He is a tough runner who continues to get better later in the game. Not only is he a great football player, he is an outstanding young man,” Gober said
