Chanute High School junior Sarah Uhner enters this season with confidence, experience, and a growing sense of leadership. A skilled point guard who can also slide into the shooting guard role, Uhner brings scoring ability, playmaking, and defensive energy to the Blue Comets, qualities that make her one of the team’s top returning players.
Individually, Uhner is focused on earning First Team SEK honors and averaging 10–15 points per game. After leading Chanute in scoring last season, she is determined to build on that success. “I was excited that I was the leading scorer last year… it made me feel part of the team’s success,” she said. This year, she hopes to expand her impact by improving her rebounding and steals, becoming a more complete and disruptive defender.
Team-wise, Uhner wants to help the Blue Comets achieve a winning record, and if things come together, an SEK championship. One of the highlights of her upcoming season is getting the chance to play alongside her sister again. “We always work well together, especially on defense,” she said.
Uhner’s offseason was filled with growth opportunities, including summer tournaments, league play, and hours spent in the gym working on her shot.
Outside of basketball, Uhner stays busy competing in varsity tennis and track. While she loves the sport, she doesn’t plan to play basketball in college and expects to spend her first year at Neosho as she explores future academic options.
With her work ethic, scoring ability, and strong defensive instincts, Sarah Uhner is poised for a standout junior season at Chanute.
