With many younger players joining the roster, Clearwater running back Garrison Wells is looking forward to seeing how they blend with the returning varsity players.
“I can’t wait to see how the younger players joining the varsity team this year will contribute,” Wells said. “Their involvement is a great chance for them to grow and I’m looking forward to watching them step up to the challenge.”
Even though he earned all-league honors last season, Wells is still seeking improvement in two of the most critical areas for a running back.
“Speed and strength are my two main goals but there is always room for improvement,” Wells said. “But I have been working on those by hitting the gym as much as possible getting good recovery time and doing speed and agility workouts to make sure I’m in shape and getting faster so I’m ready to go during the season.”
Wells had 1,100 rushing yards and eight touchdowns in 2024, as well as 45 receiving yards and an additional touchdown. But he thinks those numbers can increase.
“My goals for myself are to have 1,500 Yards and 12 touchdowns,” Wells said. “I will also be working to have 50 to 100 yards receiving. My top goal for Clearwater as a team is to win more games and to have better communication and team building skills.”
