Dodge City’s Hannah Durler – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Shelter Insurance – Troy McCain

With a young team and a tough schedule, senior power forward Hannah Durler is hoping to bring more scoring to the Demons this year.

“One of the things that I am most excited for this season is seeing how we grow and work together,” Durler said. “I’m excited to see us learn and show that we can compete at a high level.”

Last year Durler and the Dodge City Demons finished with a record of 5-16, to prepare for this season Durler was extremely focused during the offseason.

“In the offseason I attended all of the open gyms, work outs, and team camps. Pick up games and summer league, and commitment to the weight room,” Durler said.

Adding scoring will tremendously help the Demons this year and Durler is ready to step up into that role.

“Confidence on offense and work in practice is going to be a big help,” Durler said. “During the offseason, I put up a lot of shots and focused on finishing through contact and scoring on tough defense.”

On the court Durler is focused on being a leader for this young team and helping them stay focused on their goals.

“I want to focus on leading our team in effort and intensity. Setting the tone to be competitors in practice early on, will undoubtedly benefit our team later in the season. As a team, a goal I have is to be competitors in our league,” Durler said. “I am a communicator and emphasize positive energy on and off the court.”

Durler is planning to focus solely on school next year and planning on attending Kstate to study Marketing or Advertising. Then she would like to pursue a career in Sports Advertising. With that Durler is motivated to make this final season count

“I want to have a fun and successful basketball season with my best friends to look back on,” Durler said.
