It’s difficult to imagine Eisenhower running back Brayden Pappas being much better than he was last season when he rushed for 1,215 yards with seven touchdowns.
But there was something he noticed in his running style that perhaps prevented him from even more yards.
“One area I want to Improve on is making people miss and not always lowering a shoulder,” Pappas said. “I think last year I could have had more yards if I focused on making the next guy miss instead of just lowering my shoulder. One way I have done this is to go to Wichita Parisi Speed School once a week I go there and dedicate the whole workout to position drills.”
The Tigers were one of the top teams in Class 5A last season, but they graduated a significant amount of talent from that team. But Pappas still believes Eisenhower can be a team that makes things happen in 2025.
“I am really excited about how our team is looking for this upcoming year,” Pappas said. “This team is probably the hardest working team we have had at Eisenhower. From lifting in the weight room to our X factor days on the field we constantly get after it. As for the upcoming season, I’m most excited to see the team compete because we have been working so hard and I think it will pay off during the season and other teams will see that also.”
The Parisi School as well as team camps kept Pappas busy throughout the offseason.
“Preparing for this upcoming season I have been training at Parisi for the last 18 weeks on an individualized speed and power program and focusing on nutrition,” Pappas said. “I have also been attending camps to get an idea of what the college level looks like and what they do day to day.”
