Goddard’s Trey Wright – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

By Angela Brunk

Class of 2026 defensive end Trey Wright is ready to step on the field for Goddard High School this upcoming season. After a strong showing last year, Wright is more determined than ever to help his team make a deep playoff run and win a state championship. “My biggest goal is to help the team get past week nine and become state champs,” Wright told Vype Magazine.

One matchup he’s especially fired up for is the annual rivalry game against Eisenhower. “It’s always a dog fight.” Wright shared with Vype Magazine. To get ready for big games like Eisenhower, Wright has put in serious work during the offseason, focusing on footwork and explosiveness. He attended the Garden City Mega Camp and the Baker University Football Camp, gaining valuable experience against top-level competition. He also talked with PIA Athletes, one of the best trainers in the 316 area.

Last season, Wright earned Second-Team defense linemen and was named Top Honorable Mention Non-Senior. Both of these accomplishments are honors Wright is proud of earning.

Off the field, Wright is planning for the future. He hopes to play college football, but is currently undecided about which college to attend. In addition to playing college football, Wright would like to study entrepreneurship, with dreams of one day starting his own business.

In addition to football, Wright is also a multi-sport athlete, competing in track and field during the spring season and powerlifting. Wright is preparing the way for his future and for success during his senior year in athletics.
