Ava Baker, a sophomore at Fredonia High School, is preparing for the upcoming basketball season with determination, passion, and a mindset focused on growth. A versatile guard, Baker’s primary position is point guard, but she also contributes as a wing and shooting guard, giving her team flexibility and energy on the court. Baker is eager to continue proving that success in basketball is not defined by height or physical size, but by dedication, effort, and heart.
What excites Baker most about this season is the opportunity to show that anyone can make a meaningful impact through hard work and passion. Supported by her family and friends, she takes pride in competing, pushing herself, and doing what she loves.
Throughout the offseason, Baker stayed committed by practicing with friends, attending open gyms at her high school and local gym, and participating in camps hosted by her coaches, as well as out-of-town team camps.
One area Baker is focused on improving this year is her shooting accuracy and consistency. She has dedicated extra time to refining her shooting form, whether it’s working on drills in her free time or getting shots up outside with her family or on her own.
Building confidence and becoming a strong leader on and off the court are also major individual goals for her. She aims to be more assertive offensively and take advantage of scoring opportunities when they present themselves. Team success is equally important to Baker. She hopes her young team maintains a positive mindset, communicates effectively, and stays united through challenges.
Off the court, Baker excels academically, maintaining a 4.0 GPA, earning academic team honors, and receiving multiple athletic awards, including basketball hustle award, volleyball MVP, and inspirational honors.
