Perry Lecompton sophomore Macie Corcoran is one of the best underclassmen in the area despite some of the struggles from her and the rest of the team.
Corcoran is a five sport athlete who gives her all every second she can.
“The one word that comes to mind when I think of Macie is a competitor,” head coach Joey Franzitta said. “She is by far our returner with the most varsity experience, so she has been put into an odd position leadership wise and as a player only as a sophomore. She has met the challenge head on and has surpassed my high expectations of her.”
Corcoran does everything for the Kaws as she thrives in whatever role she is needed at.
“Athletically, Macie is a stud,” Franzitta said. “She can do everything you need on the court. She can pick up a point guard full court and then guard a post. She is a true swiss army knife that all coaches love to have and want to coach.”
The sophomore does a lot of great stuff on the court, but also is one of the team leaders despite being an underclassman.
“This year is a challenge for us since we are so young,” Corcoran said. “I want to show the team that we need to continue to work hard, enjoy the game, and continue to get better.”
The sophomore has racked up the accolades so far and has plans on either running track or playing softball at the next level.
“As a Freshman I was KNZA 103.9 athlete of the week for volleyball,” Corcoran said. “This year is my first year wrestling for PLHS, I wrestled in the 145 weight class, the first and only tournament I have ever wrestled in. I was the 145 champion. In basketball this year I average five points per game and eight rebounds per game. In volleyball this year I had 430 kills, 1090 Attacks, 608 serve receptions, and 11 solo blocks.”
