Southeast of Saline High School senior Kanyon Douglas is entering his final football season with a clear mission. By building on what he has gained from last season, and continuing to find improvement throughout this season. A dynamic two-way player, Douglas excels as an outside linebacker and slot receiver, bringing intensity and leadership to both sides of the ball.
Douglas shared with Vype Magazine. “As a team, our goal is to go 1-0 every week in practice and at games.” Douglas is entering this season with some outstanding statistics, boasting 109 tackles and 3 interceptions. These statistics speak to his work ethic and determination. “My goal was to reach 100 tackles, so I’m very proud I was able to push myself and achieve that,” he shared.
The pinnacle of last season was helping his team win the 2A State Championship. A moment he calls unforgettable. “We worked so hard and pushed past our limits to get there. Winning that final game was an incredible feeling.”
Douglas hasn’t slowed down in the offseason, dedicating time to morning workouts, weekend skill sessions, and speed training with teammates. He’s also looking forward to taking the field one last time with his fellow seniors.
Off the field, Douglas is just as driven. He plans to attend McPherson College to study Auto Restoration, with dreams of owning a classic car restoration business. He already spends his free time working on vintage vehicles. Besides football, Douglas also competes in track and field in the spring and is a member of the National Honor Society.
