Wichita Trinity’s Zac Zimmerman’s stat line from last season was impressive. The senior quarterback threw for 24 touchdowns and rushed for three more, as well totaling over 2,800 yards through the air and ground.
So what does Zimmerman have planned for his junior season?
“The biggest thing I want to improve on this season is my speed,” Zimmerman said. “I’ve been working hard with Coach Schadler and Coach Sharp to improve that. I want to be the best I can possibly be; putting up even more yards than last year. I want to be consistent and very dominant.”
Speaking of Coach Sharp (former KU running back Jake Sharp), Zimmerman was able to work at Sharp Performance all summer. That was just one layer to Zimmerman’s offseason workout program.
“I’ve been blessed to train with Jake Sharp, Dan Dowdy and the whole crew at Sharp Performance up in Salina,” Zimmerman said. “Along with that I’ve gotten multiple camp invites for this summer and have attended many of those. Another major part of my offseason has been in the weight room and on the field getting faster. I’m excited to get back into the season and show off the work I’ve put in this offseason.”
Zimmerman has high hopes for the Knights this season as they begin a new chapter with head coach Ryan Schadler.
“This season I want to be a true contender going into the playoffs,” Zimmerman said. “As a team we want to make a huge push and even play for a state title.”
