Week 2 football recap: Bishop Carroll led by Trail’s three touchdowns in win over Heights

By Blake Chadwick

Wichita Heights at Bishop Carroll, a game with promise as both teams squared off to bounce back from their Week 1 losses.

Bishop Carroll seemed to be in control throughout the whole game, taking an early 7-0 lead which got cut down to one-point advantage after Heights junior running back Josh Sanders scored a touchdown.

After that point, it became the usual Carroll show, as the Eagles cruised to the 55-12 win to improve to 1-1. Heights is 0-2.

The Eagles led 21-6 at halftime, but a kickoff return by Heghts freshman John Randle gave the Falcons some early momentum as they cut the score to 9.

But it was all for naught as the Eagles started to click on all cylinders.

“I thought tonight’s performance showed us we are trying to continue to move forward and clean up a lot of things we need to get cleaned up,” Carroll coach Dusty Trail said.

A star was born in the Carroll backfield as Trail’s son Hunter took over the game, breaking tackle after tackle. Hunter Trail opened up the game as he pounded the young Heights defense.

He had 154 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

“My offensive line took good care of me. They told me ‘we’ll do our job for you. You just run the ball.’ All the credit goes to them,” Trail said.
