Augusta’s Becca Skov – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Cindy Waggoner State Farm

Looking to have a successful season her senior year, Augusta’s Becca Skov is excited to work with her new coaches.

“This season, I am hoping to improve as a team and individually. Over the last three years we haven’t had the best seasons, but with the team we have and our new coaches, I think we can greatly improve from the last few years,” Skov said.

Skov mostly plays third base but also some middle infield and outfield to help her team out wherever she can. Being a senior also has pushed Skov into a more leadership role.

“For my team, I really try to be a leader for the younger girls. I want to be able to show them the right attitude to have every day and the amount of effort to put in. I also want to be accountable and push other girls to work hard so we can be better as a team,” Skov said.

To be a good leader you also need to lead by example and that is one thing Skov does for Augusta.

“During the offseason, I have been running and working out to stay in shape. I have also been working a lot on my hitting and going to lessons every week,” Skov said. “I am wanting to improve my batting average and on base percentage. I want them both to be higher this season than they have been in the past. I also work with my club team coaches and work on hitting different kinds of pitches.”

After high school Skov plans to attend Butler Community College to play softball. Even though Skov’s softball career isn’t coming to an end, she still wants to end on a high note.

“I want my stats to show improvement from last year. I also want to be someone that my teammates can rely on when they need to,” Skov said.
