Bishop Carroll golfer Max Farber recently completed an offseason training program that is unusual for the sport. The senior, who is committed to Washburn, finished in a tie for sixth at last season’s 5A Golf Tournament.
“I am currently coming off about 18 weeks of marathon training which I really feel like I grew a lot from both mentally and physically,” Farber said. “Mental strength was my biggest focus through the offseason and those hard days of training and getting the miles in did an amazing job preparing me. It really taught me a lot about myself. I’ve always had the skills to be a great player but I knew there had been a mental roadblock in the way for quite some time. I needed a way to separate myself as a person from the score next to my name and I think that is my biggest advantage going into this season.”
Farber believes that the training could prove valuable if he faces adversity this season — something he anticipates as he sets ambitious goals for both himself and his team.
“I want to continue improving through my season on the mental aspect of the game,” Farber said. “I feel like I’ve laid some great groundwork going into this season and I can’t wait to see the fruits of that labor pay off.”
The Golden Eagles did not place inside the top three at state last year, leaving Farber to view the 2026 season as unfinished business for both himself and the team.
“There is the obvious goal to go out and win state both as an individual and as a team,” Farber said. “I have put myself in contention at state multiple times and I know that I have the game to finish the job this year. Our team has a ton of talent and I have no doubt we can walk away with a win.”
