Derby’s Allison Wagoner – Student Of The Month Presented By Advanced Physical Therapy

By Matt Browning

Allison Wagoner, a cheerleader from Derby, was chosen for the Advanced Physical Therapy for September. Wagoner experienced fluid on her knee, which prevented her from cheering, and that led her to using Advanced Physical Therapy.

“I found out about Advanced Physical Therapy through my grandma because she had been going there for years and still does,” Wagoner said. “I was impressed with them because they had me back cheering I about a month or two.”

The fluid on Wagoner’s knee got to the point where cheering became secondary. She could hardly walk.

But there were exercises that APT had Wagoner complete that not only brought a sense of normalcy back to her life, but now she is thriving in cheer.

There were some exercises that Wagoner liked and some that she didn’t, but all of them proved to be beneficial.

“I think the best exercise for me was doing a squat with my right leg back because it was my left knee that was hurt and I had to touch the ground and not have my knee turn in or out at all,” Wagoner said. “I disliked doing a one leg bridge but my shoulders were on the ground. I disliked it because it always felt like it was burning my muscles in my leg because basically all my weight was on it.”
