Eisenhower Baseball – Team Of The Month Presented By Visit Wichita

By Matt Browning

The Eisenhower baseball team lost a significant number of players off last season’s team that went 16-6, but have found itself in the top four of the 5A West rankings for most of the season.

Being one of the top teams in Class 5A in 2023 was not an expectation for head coach Mike Warren, even though he thought the Tigers would get better as the year went along.

“I believe that even though we didn’t have a lot of players coming back, the seniors have stepped up and shown the younger players how to play the game,” Warren said. “Our young players have stepped up and have performed at a higher level than we anticipated.”

Eisenhower has been led by Wichita State-commit Tyner Horn, who is a four-star pitching prosect. As a team, the Tigers have had an ERA just above 2.00 all season.

Offensively, Horn, Carson Roy and Will Rogers have been the leading producers in average and power.

While its record is impressive, Eisenhower has faced numerous injuries throughout the year and Warren has been pleased with the “next man up” mentality his team has adopted.

“I think this team has done a lot with all the adversity they have gone through and have had to get tougher mentally,” Warren said.
