Amiley Lewis: A Sophomore Leading the Way
Hugoton’s resurgence hopes are tied closely to the growth of sophomore guard Amiley Lewis. As a freshman, she was already the focal point, leading the Lady Eagles in scoring, rebounding, assists, and steals while handling responsibilities most first-year players never see.
Head coach Emmanuel Adigun detailed just how much she meant to the program. As a freshman, Lewis averaged 10.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 3.2 steals per game, including 9.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 2.8 steals against GWAC opponents, and he noted that “this young lady has been asked to do more than she should have for this team all year,” praising her “incredible work ethic” and saying the team “would struggle significantly more” without her on the floor.
That combination of production and responsibility gives Hugoton a true building block. With four starters and most of the scoring back, Lewis’s ability to create, defend, and steady the team positions her as one of the league’s most impactful underclass guards.
