Inman’s Harrison Brunk – Athlete Of The Month Presented By Advanced Physical Therapy

By Matt Browning

Harrison Brunk has been one of Inman’s top athletes over the last two years, but Brunk has been fighting an injury since track started in March. At the second meet of the year, Brunk tore his hamstring while running the 4×100 relay.

Shortly after, Brunk began going to Advanced Physical Therapy to rehab his injury.

The therapy has been a grind for Brunk, with some exercises he finds more enjoyable than others.

“The exercise that I enjoyed the most was the yoga ball hamstring curls,” Brunk said. “The exercises I did not like were the standing hamstring curls and bridges when using the Blood-Flow Restriction cuffs. Although I did not like those exercises, they helped a lot because I was able to continue strengthening my hamstring without having to worry about re-injuring it.”

Brunk and APT had a timeline for getting Brunk’s hamstring back so where he could run this season.

“APT’s message to me when I started was that they were going to try and get me back for regionals while healing and strengthening my hamstring the right way,” Brunk said.

Not only does Brunk run track at Inman, but he also plays football and basketball.
