Maddi Gage – Blue Dragon Spotlight Presented By Hutchinson Community College

By Matt Browning

Maddi Gage is entering her second year as the Director of On-Campus Recruiting for Kansas State Football, but she believes she would not be where she is today if it had not been for her time at Hutchinson Community College.

“Heading to college, I had no idea what I wanted to do as a career – just that I wanted to major in business,” said Gage, who played volleyball for the Blue Dragons. “Because of the classes and opportunities that the school and athletic department provided me, I was able to find my place working in college athletics.”

An accurate description of Gage’s position is that she coordinates all official and unofficial visits to the campus, while collaborating with various departments within the K-State athletics, campus and community.

“I am in contact with the recruits and their guests to coordinate a plan that lets them see everything they need to consider us in their recruiting process,” Gage said. “In a typical recruiting cycle, we average 45 to 55 official visits and close to 2,000 unofficial visits.”

Gage said she is forever grateful for her time in Hutchinson and the connections she made. Putting herself out there and establishing relationships has allowed her to make substantial career progress.

“I found my path of working in college athletics because of my opportunities at Hutch CC as a student-athlete and I am so grateful to them,” Gage said. “My relationships with the people at Hutch are ones I hold dear to my heart. I can’t say enough great things about Hutchinson CC.”
