We caught up with Campus Basketball player Kaason Thomas to talk about who is in and out of athletics.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
My personal goals this year are to pass all my classes, Have a successful summer and school season, get college looks and on the coach’s radars, Focus on the physical health of my body, and overall just be happy.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
The most fun I had last year was going to Colorado for Thanksgiving to see my family.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
My favorite teacher is Mr. Kliewer, he is the assistant basketball coach and he also teaches (YEK) and broadcasting. What makes him my favorite is how he connects with all of his students and has a good sense of humor. He shows that he cares about everyone and wants everyone to succeed, and will help you get to where you want to be.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
The teammate that left the biggest impression on me was Sterling Chapman with his work ethic, how hard he pushed himself, the extra hours in the gym to get shots up, and making sacrifices. In the end, all the hard work paid off for him as he went to the university of Tulsa as he is continuing to put in all the hard work and then some.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
My favorite part about being on this team has to be the trust we have in one another, and the unselfishness we play with. We always make the extra pass. We trust each other outside of basketball and we all have good bonds with each other. And win or lose we all have each other’s back.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
If I was to pick any place for a summer vacation it would have to be California for the ocean and to shop. I would take my mom, little sister, and girlfriend.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
If you were to give me 500 dollars today I would give it to my mom to help with bills and other necessities.
VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?
I play for the Midwest Buckets in the NB Pro16 league.
