Valley Center’s Saner Brothers – Athlete Spotlight Presented By Visit Wichita

By Matt Browning

The Saner family has exceptionally strong ties to Valley Center High School, but specifically the Hornet baseball program.

Three brothers, Caleb (senior), Austin (sophomore) and Bryson (sophomore) all contribute to the varsity team, while their cousins Gavin and Brody play on the JV team.

Caleb plays right field and center field; Austin plays second base and Bryson is a utility player.

It is such a unique experience for the Saner family to have baseball be the bond that brings them together.

“Baseball brings my family together very much,” Bryson said. “My uncles and my grandpa played baseball and took it very seriously. So I’m honored to keep carrying the baseball tradition in our family.”

This season is the first season where the Saner brothers were able to play on the same team and it has been special so far.

“To be able to play baseball with my two sophomore brothers means a lot to me,” Caleb said. “This is the first time I have truly got to play with them, in any sport for that matter. I thoroughly enjoy being able to play with my brothers. It’s a great experience.”

The Saners share the same dynamic and relationship off the field as they do on the field.

“We are very close off the field,” Austin said. “We are often lifting with each other or just playing other sports and always challenging each other.”
