Winfield’s Beau Schulte – Football Spotlight – Presented by Shelter Insurance

Beau Schulte – Winfield

Winfield’s season changed in an instant, and so did Beau Schulte’s role. A two-year starter at wide receiver, Schulte suddenly found himself steering the entire offense when the Warriors lost their starting quarterback to an ACL tear during a summer scrimmage. Instead of staying in his comfort zone, he moved under center, embraced the responsibility, and became one of the program’s most important leaders.

Head coach Cory Elmendorf described exactly how significant that shift was. “Beau Schulte stepped up big time for our football team this year. He was a two-year starter at WR and in July we lost our starting QB to an ACL tear during a scrimmage with a local high school. Beau stepped in and took on the leadership role of starting 10 games at quarterback. He never complained and was a captain on our team this year. He threw for 82/158 955 yards and 7 passing td’s and 1 rushing td. Beau has never played quarterback before this year and was a big impact on the season. He started 10 games at safety with 31 tackles 15 assist 5 interceptions. He holds the career interception record with 7 total interceptions.”

Those numbers highlight how complete his contribution was. Nearly 1,000 passing yards and eight total touchdowns from a first-year quarterback kept Winfield’s offense viable, while his work at safety—31 tackles, 15 assists, and 5 interceptions—made him a game-changer on defense. Holding the program’s career interception record with seven picks underscores how instinctive he is on the back end. In a year that demanded adaptability and toughness, Beau Schulte gave the Warriors exactly what they needed: a calm, competitive presence who did whatever the team asked.
