Winfield’s Cale Lindenman – Poll Winner Presented By WSU Tech

By Matt Browning

Winfield graduated many seniors off last season’s team that upset Wellington in the opening round of the 4A playoffs. Most people would find that concerning, but not for the Vikings’ senior running back Cale Lindenman. He thinks it is an opportunity for growth for some of the younger and inexperienced players on Winfield’s roster.

“This upcoming season I am most excited to see how my team performs,” Lindenman said. “Last season we lost some key players to our team so I am excited to see who will step up as leaders heading into the upcoming season.”

There were many layers to Lindenman’s offseason, which was busy to say the least.

“This offseason we have been preparing by training in the weight room, having our own team camp and attending the Southwestern team camp,” Lindenman said.

The one area where Lindenman wants to improve is being aware of the Vikings’ opponents, so that he knows their tendencies and weaknesses.

“I want to improve on preparing for our opponents better,” Lindenman said. “I am going to do this by making sure I am utilizing the film our coaches gather on our upcoming opponents.”

Lindenman rushed for over 806 yards and five touchdowns on 133 carries, while also scoring a touchdown on a reception. But he knows there are ways that he can continue to help out his team.

“A goal I have for myself is to take control of what is happening on the field and be able to slow the game down in order to help my teammates out,” Lindenman said.
