The high school basketball season opened Thursday night.

The Andover Central at Maize South boys game seemed to have representation from every high school in the Wichita area.

Boys

Maize South 46, Andover Central 39

McPherson 74, Dodge City 32 — Kreighton Kanitz scored 12 points, while Gabe Pyle and Owen Pyle each had 10 for McPherson. Cory Muehler added nine rebounds, nine points.

Girls

Maize South 40, Andover Central 37

McPherson 43, Dodge City 37 — Jordan Sears scored 13 points and had 12 rebounds to lead McPherson, and Karter Alvord added 10 points and four steals.
