Tonight’s basketball scores, recaps (Jan. 14)

This is the final Friday night of basketball before tournament play starts next week.

Gotta love game day.

Boys

Andale 66, Mulvane 50 — Andale led 48-42 heading into the third quarter, but outscored Mulvane 18-8 in the final eight minutes. Jacksyn Potucek scored 14 to lead Andale, while Winter had 13 points. Landon Coe scored 18 to lead Mulvane and Ian Comer had 17.

Andover Central 56, Andover 49 — Kobe Smith scored a game-high 24 points in Andover Central’s win, while Brian Perry had 11. Andover was led by Eli Shetlar, who hit four three-pointers and scored 15 poitns, and BJ Redic, who had 14 points.

Beloit 44, Minneapolis 31

Cheney 42, Chaparral 36

Clearwater 44, Wellington 43

Conway Springs 52, Garden Plain 33 — Nash Johnson scored a game-high 18 points.

Derby 76, Newton 54 — Kaeson Fisher-Brown led Derby with 22 points, while Trent Parke had 17, DeShawne Titus 14. Derby made 16 three-pointers — Titus and Parke each had four, Dallas Metzger and Fisher-Brown three apiece. J. Schlecta had 12 for Newton and T. Dorrell 11.

East 61, North 57 OT

Heights 49, Bishop Carroll 44 — Heights trailed Carroll 33-19 at the half and outscored the Eagles 30-9 in the second half. Dreylin Kemp led Heights with 17 rebounds, five blocks and four steals. Heights’ Chase Harris had 18 points and Marcus Zeigler 14. Mikey Brand scored 18 for Carroll, hitting five three-pointers.

Maize 60, Life Prep 40 — Kyle Grill led Maize with 24 points in the win over Life Prep. Jaden Gustafson added 13. Life Prep’s Isaiah Brayner had 13 points.

Maize South 67, Arkansas City 41

McPherson 58, Circle 33 — Kreighton Kanitz led McPherson with 11 points as 10 Bullpups players scored. Seth Madron and Mason Miller each had six rebounds, and Owen Pyle finished with five steals. Luke McGinnis had four assists for Circle.

Northwest 81, West 61 — Geremiah Moore and Robby James each scored 17 to lead Northwest, and Kee’on Hutton had 16. Moore hit 10 of 12 free throws and James hit three three-pointers. Julian Ingram scored 13 for West, and Rob Basks Jr. and Gavyn Phillips each had 12.

Norwich 71, Pretty Prairie 37

Pratt 64, Larned 24 — Karter Hoeme led Pratt with 14 points.

Remington 65, Bennington 61

Salina Central 60, Goddard 41 — Duplessis scored 17 to lead Salina Central.

Salina South 58, Campus 46 — Salina South scored nine of the game’s final 11 points en route to the win, the Cougars’ third straight. Te’jon McDaniel scored 21 for Salina South.

Stafford 33, Hutchinson Central Christian 28

Valley Center 67, Eisenhower 39 — Valley Center’s Noah Simmons hit three three-pointers and led the Hornets with 22 points. Sam Bass scored 13 and Kade Wilson 11 in the win.

West Elk 59, Oxford 28

Abilene 68, Clay Center 31

Andover Central 55, Andover 44 — Brooke Walker scored a game-high 32 points for Andover.

Beloit 47, Minneapolis 37

Bishop Carroll 52, Heights 45

Cheney 57, Chaparral 33 — Cheney scored 42 of its 57 points in the first half. Brynn McCormick scored a game-high 13 points and Leah Durr had 12. Auburn Hill scored 11 to lead Chaparral.

Derby 40, Newton 24 — Maryn Archer scored 14 points to lead Derby in the win.

Douglass 53, Kingman 52

Garden Plain 39, Conway Springs 23 — Celia Puetz scored 10 to lead Garden Plain, Brooke Hammond had eight rebounds and Sydney Puetz five steals. Allyson Lange led Conway Springs with 11 points.

Hesston 43, Smoky Valley 33

Hugoton 42, Goodland 38 OT — Hugoton’s Mikyn Hamlin hit the game-tying three-pointer to send the game into overtime. She scored 21 points and Gianna Vos had 10. E. Lehman scored 13 and Weeter 12 for Goodland.

Hutchinson 58, Great Bend 43

Life Prep 49, Maize 44 — Kyla Frenchers scored 10 to lead Maize.

Maize South 44, Arkansas City 18

McPherson 46, Circle 15 — Chloe Clevenger led McPherson with 13 points and eight steals. Lauren Labertew added six steals, eight points and four rebounds and Peyton Howard had seven rebounds.

Nickerson 54, Hoisington 36 — Ava Jones led Nickerson with 20 points and Alexis Allen scored 14. L. Brewer scored 10 to lead Hoisington.

Norwich 38, Pretty Prairie 37

Salina Central 64, Goddard 36 — Hampton Williams led Salina Central with 19 points and Aubrie Kierscht had 17.

Trinity Academy 62, Belle Plaine 49

Valley Center 39, Eisenhower 30 — Anna Eldridge and Ali Coash each scored 11 for Valley Center.

Wellington 50, Clearwater 46 OT — Wellington’s Airalyn Frame scored 19 and Val Norwood had 14 in the win. Clearwater was led by Elizabeth Tjaden’s 13 points, and Brooke Berlin and Laurel Streit each scored 10.

Thursday’s games

Boys

Haven 60, Halstead 28 — Brant Sipe scored 15 points to lead Haven in the win, and Dalton Schrag had 12, Nash Wray 10. DJ Miller had six assists and Trent Yoder four, Sipe had six rebounds, while Wray, Gatlin Rinehart and Schrag each had four steals.

Girls

Halstead 64, Haven 59 — Halstead outscored Haven 25-9 in the third quarter, which held up as Haven returned the favor 18-13 in the final period.  D. Schutte had 25 points, hitting three three-pointers for Halstead. K. Young had 14 and Weber scored 11 in the win. Haven’s Reese Roper scored a team-high 22 points, and Kinley Jacques and Sienna DeFrain each had 12 points. Roper added seven rebounds and four assists, three steals, and DeFrain had 10 rebounds, four blocks and four assists.
