Tonight’s high school basketball scores, recaps (Jan. 22)

The first weekend of midseason tournaments wraps up today.

Boys

Andover 56, Wichita South 41 — Andover’s Eli Shetlar scored his game-high 19 points in the final period, and Chris Harris scored 18.

Andover Central 80, Chanute 38 — Kobe Smith scored 41 points for Andover Central, hitting four three-pointers, and teammate Skyler Clevenger scored 16.

Bishop Carroll 52, North 44 — Carroll took a 40-26 lead into the fourth quarter, but North cut it to within 43-40 and 45-42 before the Eagles pulled away in the final 1:21. Walt Gray hit 7 of 14 shots and 5 of 6 field goals for 19 points and teammate Michael Polley had 10 rebounds, five steals and seven assists. North’s Michael Bailey Jr. made 7 of 14 from the field, including two three-pointers, for 19 points and six rebounds. Emilian Carillo had six rebounds and Jacob Wassall had eighth rebounds and three assists.

Blue Valley 60, Derby 54 — Trailing 42-35 early in the fourth quarter, Derby made a fourth-quarter run. Dallas Metzger hit two three-pointers and Amari Thomas one in two minutes for a 9-0 run to get within 53-51 with 31.6 seconds to go. Blue Valley hit 3 of 4 free throws on the same possession after rebounding its own missed free throw for the 56-51 lead. But Thomas hit a three with 16 seconds to go to cut the lead to two. Blue Valley hit 4 of 4 free throws in the final 12 seconds to seal the win. Aidan Shaw led Blue Valley with 22 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks, and Zac Svendsen had 19 points. Derby’s Deshawne Titus scored 13 points, hitting 3 of 6 three-pointers and had four steals, while Thomas scored 10 points. Trent Parke had six rebounds.

Buhler 56, Salina Central 41 — Jack Voth had 21 points and 13 rebounds, Isaiah Hern 12 in the Buhler win. Sid Duplessis had 15 points to lead Salina Central.

Caldwell 38, Cedar Vale-Dexter 34

Centralia 59, Hanover 57

Cheney 65, Andale 58 OT — Cheney’s Harrison Voth scored 29 points and Harrison Middleton had 12.  Jacksyn Potucek scored 15 points for Andale, and Nemechek had 12.

Circle 62, Chaparral 50

Clearwater 44, Arkansas City 31

Colby 49, Beloit 46

Concordia 57, Liberal 56 — Concordia’s Cav Carlgren had 26 points, 17 rebounds.

Dodge City 59, Maize 52 — Maize trailed 44-30 to start the fourth quarter and scored 22 fourth quarter points. Isaiah Taylor scored 19 points to lead Dodge City. Maize’s Mason Belcher hit three three-pointers and had 11 points, Jaden Gustafson had 10 points, Avery Johnson 13 points and Kyle Grill 10.

El Dorado 75, Goddard 45 — Jeremiah Kemboi led El Dorado with 18 points and Jaydon Sundgren had 14.

Garden Plain 67, Halstead 58 — Jaden Stierwalt had 29 points to lead Garden Plain, and Luke Hillman had 23. Johnson scored 18 to lead Halstead, Davison 12 and Swift 10.

Heights 55, Campus 48 — TJ Williams scored 16 points and had eight rebounds, four assists as Heights got the win. Falcons’ Marcus Zeigler scored 12 points and had five rebounds, while Amalichi Wilkins had six rebounds, Dreylin Kemp seven. Campus was led by Zion Young’s 14 points and Andrell Burton and Aiden Sutter each had 11 points. Kasson Thomas had four steals.

Hillsboro 39, Hesston 29 — Brekyn Ratzlaff had 16 points and five rebounds for Hillsboro, and Grayson Ratzlaff had seven rebounds Frank Wichert three steals. Cason Richardson had 14 points and two blocks for Hesston.

Holcomb 57, Remington 45 — Holcomb’s Luke Tolbert scored 15, Cooper Autry 14 and Daegan VAnpelt 10 in the win.

Kapaun 61, Great Bend 32 — Henry Thengvall scored 21 points, Will Anciaux 15 in Kapaun’s victory.

Lawrence Free State 64, St. James 59 — Free State’s Jordan Brown and Cooper Jackson each scored 16. Brian Hawthorne scored 21 and John Niesen 19 for St. James.

Macksville 41, St. John 36

Maize South 51, SM East 46

Manhattan 71, East 51 — Braden Dale had five rebounds to lead East.

McPherson 72, Topeka Seaman 68 — McPherson had four players in double figures — Seth Madron with 19 points, Owen Pyle 16, Cory Muehler 14 and Mason Miller 12. Pyle and Muehler both hit 4 of 6 from three, while Madron hit 7 of 9 shots. Madron added six assists and Miller had seven rebounds. Kaeden Bonner hit 8 of 15 three-pointers and finished with 24 points for Seaman.

Nickerson 54, Reno County Sabres 40

Norwich 59, Pratt Skyline 43

Olathe East 48, Eisenhower 35 — Trey Omli had six rebounds for Eisenhower, Jason McCarty five.

Oxford 73, Central-Burden 62

Pratt 53, Ellinwood 45 — Karter Hoeme and Carson Hoeme each had 14 points, Peyton Koehler 12 for Pratt.

Republic County 60, Eureka 27

Riley County 48, Clay Center 45

Rose Hill 60, Haven 52 — Kellan Simoneau scored 24 points for Rose Hill, Adriel Smith 17 and Xander Landrie 10. Smith also had 10 assists and Landrie had four steals. Brant Sipe scored 20 for Haven, Dalton Schrag had 13, while teammate Zeke Kraft added six assists and DJ Miller seven rebounds.

Salina South 50, Abilene 38

Sedan 63, South Haven 36 — Brandon Baier scored 16 points, Dameion Hatten 16, Keaton Dickens 11 and Lyndon Sears 10 in the win.

Southeast 65, Valley Center 56 — Noah Simmons scored 32 points to lead Valley Center.

Topeka West 64, Northwest 56 — Brooks scored 30 to lead Topeka West. Northwest’s Geremiah Moore hit five threes — four in the first half — for a team-high 17 points. Tasean Williams had 13 points.

Wellington 76, Mulvane 51

West Elk 67, Flinthills 43 — Wesley Young scored 22 points for West Elk.

Girls

Augusta 51, Bishop Seabury 38

Buhler 36, West 28

Cheney 43, Valley Center 22 — Reagan Ayres scored 18 points and Peyton McCormick 10.

East 60, Pittsburg 30

Eureka 53, Clay Center 28 — Ashley Singhateh scored 22 to lead Eureka, and Brooke Ptacek had 12.

Hesston 44, Remington 37 — Hesston’s Caryn Yoder had 12 points, six steals in the win, while Katie Kueker had six rebounds. Remington was led by Karoline Johnson’s 12 points and Kaleigh O’Brien’s 10.

Holcomb 41, Hillsboro 24 — Halle Jones scored 12 for Holcomb.

Lamar, Colo. 47, Beloit 43

Marion 32, Wakefield 30

Rose Hill 39, Collegiate 36 — Mady Barger’s 19 points led Rose Hill to the win. Herrman scored 12 to lead Collegiate.

Salina Central 56, Andover 36 — Aubrie Kierscht had 21 points, and Hampton Williams had 15points, 10 rebounds in Salina Central’s win.

Salina South 46, Abilene 27

West Elk 42, Sedan 34 — Hannah Whetstone scored 19 points to lead West Elk. Sedan’s Jacie Cummings and Landrea Sears each had 12 points.
